Start with finding a quiet place to meditate. This can be in a room or outside. You can meditate in different ways, sitting down in a comfortable chair, using a meditation cushion, sitting in the lotus position, laying down on your back, etc. These are just some of the many ways you can meditate. 5 Tips for Attaining Right Mindset During Meditation:

  • Pick a comfortable space to meditate
  • Make sure the setting is free of distractions
  • For sitting meditation, it is good idea to use a meditation cushion
  • If listening to meditation music, binaural beats, any other sounds, using headphones can enhance the meditation experience
  • If thoughts come into mind don’t ignore them but don’t give them attention

Beginning of Meditation

Once in the position that you want to meditate in close your eyes and breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and exhale for 6 seconds. This is called rhythmic breathing. Say in your head “I am meditating in the love and the light of God” or “I am meditating in the love and the light of the infinite Creator” . This is called spiritual protection. People have experienced spiritual attacks and you do not want to open yourself to them. Repeat the process of rhythmic breathing until how ever long you feel you want to meditate. As you meditate pay attention to your thoughts. Acknowledge that they are there and don’t ignore them. But don’t give too much attention to those thoughts.

Not Living in the Past and Forgiving Ourselves

We don’t want to dwell on things that have happened to us in the past and we certainly do not want to feel guilty about anything that has happened to us in the past. In this way we are performing inner work to forgive ourselves and live our best life. The idea of meditation is that we want to “live in the now” and experience what is happening in the present moment. We do not want to worry about what has happened in the past or even the future. It is good to plan things out in life and to be prepared for certain situations, but we should not worry about tomorrow. 

Living in the Now

The most enjoyable moments in life happen because of the state of being of “living in the now”. We should not let our thoughts get in the way of a nice walk, hiking through the woods, or sitting on a peaceful beach. All of these enjoyable moments are enjoyable because they happen in a state of “thoughtlessness”. And that is the state that all people should be in most of the time. Meditation helps achieve this state with practice. We teach our minds to live in the present moment and to not worry about the past or the future. Being in nature helps very much with living in the moment. There is just something about being around trees and nature that allow us to raise our vibrational level. It allows us to actually feel better when we are in nature.

Most people do not realize that they let their thoughts bring them down. We as humans do not need to be thinking about many things every day. After a while thinking about too many things can cause stress, anxiety or depression for people. That is not any way to live. We all want to be happy day to day without conflicts in life. Unfortunately conflicts do happen in life and we need to deal with stressful situations. Meditation can help us with this because it teaches us to be calm and centered. In this state we can be the best versions of ourselves and be able to deal with stressful situations or conflicts in life. We all want to be the best versions of ourselves but unfortunately in my opinion we as people are programmed by the outside world and we don’t even know it.

We all get busy in life and it is good to be busy and keep our minds occupied, but we all also need to learn to slow down, relax, enjoy life, and take things easy. We especially need to learn to slow down our minds because some of our minds can race and that is not good for anyone. It can cause insomnia and cause one to have trouble sleeping. Meditation is most definitely a way to slow the mind down and basically reset the mind for the next day. The health of the mind is just as important if not more important than physical health. There is nothing better for the mind than to put on a relaxing meditation track and have a good meditation session. It will leave a person feeling great and they will have more clarity of mind.
